Trapped Ion

Trapped ion quantum computers use ion traps, a type of technology used to confine and suspend ions (i.e. charged particles) in free space using electromagnetic fields, to perform quantum computing. These ions are then used as qubits, where states are encoded in the ions’ stable electronic states.
